Objective of Program

To improve the health status of the community of Sindhupalchowk and with the involvement of local WASH stakeholders, schools, health institutions as well as improve governance in WASH at the local level.

 Program Output

1. A total of 1,212 meetings with SMCs and PTAs on a building back better concept were conducted; an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) fund was established, 24 coordination meetings were conducted with District Education Officers; 227 Child Clubs were oriented; 28 health facility staff, 428 FCHVs and 338 youth members were trained in WASH and behavior change. To reduce the waterborne disease incidence in the districts and promote hand washing with soap.

4647 community people of both the districts got access to safe and clean water through 20 drinking water supply schemes, solving the problem of water fetching from distanced sources. The saved time was used for a kitchen garden, a study of children, and other productive activities. 

201 (155 in Sindhupalchowk and 46 in) child clubs were formed, trained, and mobilized for sanitation campaigns and monitoring of ongoing sanitation movements in the schools and school catchment area.

Hygiene and sanitation were promoted in 34 health facilities in both districts.

3217 students (1510 boys and 1707 girls) for access to safe and clean latrines as 17 latrines of schools were rehabilitated with improved sanitation facilities. 

34991 community people received WASH messages through household visits. 

2813 FCHVs, health facility Staff, water user committees, RP/Sis, and youth clubs were trained and mobilized.

Developed school as a model place of sanitation for learning, demonstration, inspiration, and motivation and also integrating sanitation issues with educational systems along with locally appropriate and pragmatic initiations.

Conducive environment was created to ensure participation, support, ownership, and endorsement from the school families, specifically teachers and students/child clubs for establishing pro-sanitation values.
