Objective of Program
• To provide emergency food assistance to the earthquake-affected populations in Sindhupalchowk districts through a food and cash-for-assets program.

 

Program Output
 SEBAC-Nepal successfully fulfilled the responsibility of distributing 2,235.2 MT of rice and lentils to 12,628 HHs following the protocols for storage, handling, transportation, and distribution along with cash support of NRs. 284,096,000 to 17,756 HHs of Sindhupalchowk in close coordination of governmental entities under “For food and cash for a work project”. 
• Each household received 150 kgs of rice and 27 kgs of 10 pulses by the end of the project
• Under the cash-for-work modality 8 school buildings, 7 community facilities, 7 irrigation canals, 1 micro-hydro, 374 KM road, and 1068 KM foot trails were rehabilitated/ constructed. 
• Irrigation canals were reconstructed and irrigation service to 440 ha of land was restored. 
• Organized and managed the asset-building and livelihood-related activities with the communities, 
• Designed, managed, and delivered training activities,
• Managed and set up facilities for the distribution of food to the beneficiaries at the Final Distribution Point (FDP). 
• Arranged secondary transportation from agreed transit points to FDPs for all commodities, including nutrition-specific products.
• Collaborated with WFP to ensure that the commodities were distributed to registered beneficiaries
• Cooperated fully with the WFP teams to ensure smooth, accurate, and transparent distributions that resulted in targeted beneficiaries receiving WFP assistance.
• Cooperated, where possible, with relevant governmental entities at VDC level and WFP for the most efficient handling, storage, transport, and distribution of WFP-supplied commodities (the “Commodities”), and allowed WFP personnel unobstructed access to facilities containing such Commodities;
• Arranged for the reception, storage, handling, and transport at mutually agreed transit points at VDCs, for secondary transport to other delivery and/or distribution locations required by WFP and for distribution to beneficiaries of the Commodities;     
• Took responsibility for commodities distributed to households in areas classified as “inaccessible”, including registering, distributing, and reporting on all commodities and nutritional products in these areas.
• Took all necessary measures to preserve the Commodities, prevent their deterioration and mitigate any loss. Such measures may include separation, cleaning, reconditioning, disposal, fumigation and any other reasonable mitigating measures. Disposal of damaged goods must be carried out only with WFP’s approval and according to WFP’s policies.
• Implemented and used an appropriate Commodity Tracking System for the purpose of monitoring the activities associated with the reception, storage, handling, transport, and distribution of the Commodities. In the absence of suitable IT solutions, such a system may be paper-based.
• Registered beneficiaries and collected data as stipulated by WFP in registration SOPs.
• Distributed the cash card, finalizing and verifying the beneficiary list. Advised WFP to activate the cards either immediately prior to or following distribution.
• Identified and managed the cash for asset activities with consultation from the community.
