Target Group : Socio-economically excluded and disadvantaged inhabitants along the Rajpur-Tikhatar District Road alignment.
Program Area : Doti district (4 VDCs - Ranagaon, Basudevi, Tikhatar, and Durgamandu) and part of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality)
Objective of Program
• To increase food availability in the areas in the lean season to continue to retain the nutritional status in the vulnerable communities through food aids creating jobs in the rural areas as food for work.
• To orient communities on early warnings-early actions in-order to reduce the risk of disasters
• To provide technical assistance for the implementation of social mobilization, economic promotion and capacity building activities in order to improve access of food deficit households to short term-employment and long term income opportunities.
Major Output & Activities
• Identified and mobilized target beneficiaries to organize into different self-help groups (SHGs).
• A total of 88 SHG were functional and federated into cooperatives/ CBOs as per the local SHG’s interest and demand.
• Assisted SHGs to mobilize savings in productive investments for income generation.
• Provided backstopping support to SHGs for their functioning and democratic governance.
• Facilitated SHGs to conduct public audit and to keep proper records.
• Facilitated the cooperatives to establish linkage with private, non-government and government service providers and financial institutions for information, resources and services.
• 36 km of rural roads were constructed for plying vehicle and approximately 35,000 people utilized roads for personal and goods transport.
• 1,600 target beneficiaries were benefitted from short-term employments.
• Cropping intensity was increased in irrigation command areas.
• At least 70% of the irrigation beneficiaries used modern agricultural inputs, skills and appropriate technology for food and cash crop production.
• A total of 2 poly-houses were constructed for all season vegetable production.
• 2000 SHG members grew cash crops for semi-commercial and commercial purpose and ensured to earn income.
• 1500 SHG members were oriented in improved agricultural inputs and skills for growing high value cash crops.
• 100 SHG members raised livestock using improved breeds and management techniques.
• 100 landless, Dalit, women and poor youths were involved in on-farm income generation activities.
• 30% of the members of cooperatives (saving and credit or multi-purpose) have invested in on-farm or off-farm enterprises and involved in marketing from those enterprises.
