Objective of Program
• To establish behavioral total sanitation and declare the programme VDC’s “Open Defecation Free” Zone. 

 

Program Output
Declaration of ODF Zones
• Out of total 11 targeted VDCs SEBAC-Nepal in coordination with communities, VWASH-CCs and D-WASH-CC has been successful to declare Open Defecation Free in all 11 VDCs (Duni, Mastamandu, Patalkot, Jalpadevi, Payal, Lungra, Budhakot, Nawathana, Ridikot, Baijanath and Siddheswar).
Extend access to safe drinking water and sanitation
• 8 water supply schemes were renovated
• 5 water sources/reservoirs were protected
• 4 schools/HHs were supported for drinking water supply and latrine construction
• 5 places had the water tested on the spot
Increased awareness of communities on environmental sanitation and personal hygiene
• 25 awareness classes were conducted on Health, Hygiene and point of Water Use
• 2 times training under School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) were organized for teachers.
• 8 events of sharing meeting on nutrition were conducted among the family members
• Child club training/refresher training on SHEE and SLTS/VDC level situation analysis was conducted.
Strengthened capacity of community groups, local bodies and local service providers to sustain the services
• Conducted 5 events of masonry training
• 1 Workshop was organized on sanitation to VDC secretaries and local facilitators
• 9 events of startup workshops at DDC/VDC level
• 3 events of kitchen garden training for user committees’ formation of 5 groups of drinking water user committees.
Enabling environment created for development, application and dissemination (scaling up and dissemination of “Achham Model”)
• DWASH-CC members were provided an orientation training on Achham Model WASH movement
• VWASH-CC were formed in working VDCs.
Improved nutrition and respiration system of women and children
• 8 events of kitchen garden training were conducted for user committees.
• 100 families were promoted for kitchen gardening.
• 8 sharing meetings were organized on nutrition among family members.
• 16 events of demonstration of street drama/ video movies each on WASH/SEBAC at different communities.
• 16 events of organized cultural programmes related to WASH.
• 8 events of awareness building and planning workshops for VDC level WRMTS preparation.
