Objective of Program
• To increase access of people to basic services, particularly drinking water and sanitation.
• To increase capacity of communities in management of the community drinking water systems.
• To increase awareness of communities on water-borne diseases and personal hygiene.
Program Output
• The WATSAN programme has constructed 24 drinking water schemes serving 585 HHs and 2200 students
• 16 community clusters were declared "No Open Defecation" area
• Community people were made aware on health and sanitation issues.
• Increased the access of community people to safe and pure drinking water
• Time of fetching water reduced and particularly women's workload has significantly reduced.
• Women have found more time to better look after their children and also time for community development and other productive activities.
• Public audit, operation and maintenance of the schemes, skill development to construct and manage the scheme are established in the working clusters as a system approach.
