Objective of the Program
• To improve agricultural productivity and sustainability of existing small and medium sized farmer managed irrigation schemes suffering low productivity and thereby enhancing the livelihood of poor men and women including ethnic minorities and Dalit.
Program Output
• Supported to the users of two farmer managed irrigation systems namely i) Motipur Irrigation Sub-Project and ii) Diwalitol irrigation Sub-Project.
• The project had two components: participatory irrigated agriculture development and institutional strengthening of the respective irrigation schemes.
• Initial social mobilization support
• Institutional development of the water users’ groups and their associations.
• Institutional support in group fund management, book-keeping and meeting minutes
• Support in good governance practices and inclusion of women and Dalit in the leadership positions in executive committees
• Linkage building between the Department of Irrigation and water resources users and their committees.
